After high school, Matthew attended Northern Virginia Community College, earning an Associate’s degree in Science by 2003.

Starting a Career in Technology

Matthew McLaughlin of North Carolina began his professional journey at Dito, LLC, a company specializing in Google Cloud solutions. As one of the first employees, he took on the Google Apps Technical & Implementation Specialist role. This position allowed him to combine his technical expertise with his problem-solving skills. He helped businesses transition to Google’s cloud-based platforms, ensuring seamless implementation and adoption.

In 2009, Matthew’s responsibilities expanded when he became a Google Apps Change Management & Training Specialist. He worked closely with clients to design and deliver training programs that allowed teams to maximize the benefits of Google’s tools. Family

Matthew’s life is not all about work. A dedicated father of four, he enjoys spending quality time with his children. Whether helping with homework, attending sports events, or sharing a family meal, Matthew prioritizes his role as a parent. He enjoys spending quality time with the kids, which he considers his primary focus. Matthew tries to go to as many playgrounds as possible with his kids. He also enjoys riding bikes around the neighborhood and on the Raleigh Greenway, playing hide and seek (his kids’ favorite game), and reading books with them.

Outdoor Activities

Matthew McLaughlin also enjoys golfing, cycling, and reading. Golf has been his passion since childhood, and he often uses the sport to connect with friends and colleagues. Cycling gives him a sense of adventure and a way to stay active while reading, which offers an opportunity to relax and gain new perspectives. When he finds the time, Matthew also likes to take daily walks, go on hikes, and throw some bait out in the local pond to see what fish are biting that day.

Sports

Matthew is an avid sports fan and lifelong supporter of the Washington Commanders. He also likes watching baseball and supporting the Washington Nationals. Though he grew up a Washington Capitals fan, his son is now doing everything in his power to convert him to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Music

Music is also Matthew’s passion; he goes to as many concerts as possible in his free time. Matthew is a big music fan and is learning to play the guitar. Bands like The Grateful Dead and 311 are favorites, and he’s a big fan of Bonnie Raitt and John Mayer. His musical taste ranges from ABBA to ZZ Top.  

Travel

Matthew really enjoys traveling and has been to Paris, Amsterdam, Mexico, and 12 islands in the Caribbean. He also enjoys domestic travel, especially cross-country adventures to California (for work and pleasure).

Cooking

Matthew cooks when he can and is a big fan of trying new recipes and cooking with his kids. His kids help with the measurements, mixing ingredients, chopping vegetables, and cleaning the dishes (sometimes).
